Games / How we test

How we measure a session

We time things. That sounds obsessive and it is, but it is also the only way to tell whether a game actually fits a break or merely claims to.

Timed, in real gaps

Each game gets at least twenty sessions in genuine breaks - lunch, the gap before a call, the twenty minutes after dinner. We record how long it took from opening the tab to something being finished.

Loading time counts. So does the queue. A game that needs four minutes before anything happens is spending a quarter of the break on nothing.

What counts as finished

Either a result - a match with a winner - or a complete cycle of decisions that leaves nothing hanging. Anything that forces you to abandon progress mid-way fails here.

  • A whole session fits in fifteen to thirty minutes.
  • Leaving costs nothing: no energy, no penalty, no lost progress.
  • First action arrives within a minute of opening the tab.
  • It runs on an ordinary work laptop.

What disqualifies a game

Energy bars that cap play. Long unskippable intros on every login. Matchmaking queues over three minutes at normal hours. Penalties for leaving. Any of those and it is off the page.
